The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is a uniformed volunteer arm of the Coast Guard, and numerically it amounts to about half of the Coast Guard Team. Our primary mission is to promote safe recreational boating, and in this mission we also are asked to assist the regular Coast Guard and state boating authorities from time to time. Now that we have joined the Department of Homeland Security, we also are being asked to assist in Harbor Patrols for Port Security, Marine Environmental Patrols, and picket duty to keep boats clear of the LNG dock at Cove Point. In order to join the Auxiliary, one must be at least 17 years of age and a U.S. citizen. If you are interested please contact the officers above. If you live in the southern 2/3 of Calvert County or keep your boat near Solomons, this would be the most convenient flotilla for you. In order to do these jobs, we need a well- trained body of members, so we have excellent and active member training curricula. |

| Our flotilla is quite strong in all the four "cornerstones" of the Auxiliary: Surface Operations, Boating Safety Education, Vessel Safety Checks, and Fellowship, this latter being the "glue" that holds the organization together. Besides our monthly meetings, we have three social events each year--two summer picnics and the Christmas party. Please contact the Flotilla for more information. | |||
